About Us

      GCARES is incorporated as a non-profit corporations under the laws of the State of Michigan and holds a 501 © (3) tax status with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

 

     Amateur Radio is a service devoted to technical investigation, communication, and public service.  After passing an examination, Amateurs are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  Amateur radio operators have worldwide communications capabilities, conduct propagation experiments, engage in public service communications, contribute to the advancement to international good will.  (FCC Rules and Regulations — Part 97)

 

     The Amateur Radio Emergency Service was created and administered by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

 

     It is a voluntary organization of licensed Amateur Radio Operators who devote their time, talent and equipment capabilities to emergency and public service communications.
